MLS Laser Therapy
Multi-Wave Locked System® (MLS) Laser Therapy is an innovative approach that uses concentrated light energy to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. By using specific wavelengths of light, the patented laser energy delivery system helps the body simultaneously manage pain, improve blood flow, and decrease inflammation for a wide range of painful conditions. MLS Laser Therapy is safe, painless, noninvasive, cleared by the FDA, and backed by decades of research around the world.
MLS Laser Therapy effectively treats the pain and inflammation associated with:
• Acute Injuries
• Arthritis & Bursitis
• Back & Neck Issues
• Musculoskeletal Disorders
• Neuropathy
• Occupational & Sports Injuries
• Plantar Fasciitis
• Post-Surgical Recovery
• Sprains & Strains
• Tendon & Ligament Injuries
• Wound Healing
What makes our MLS Laser Unique?
MLS Laser Therapy is a patented emission system created to achieve an efficient and simultaneous effect on pain, contracture, inflammation, and edema in a short period of time. It delivers a unique combination and synchronization of continuous and pulsed wavelengthsto distinguish it from any other Class IV lasers. The capability to deliver safe, controlled laser energy that penetrates deep into the tissue, provides more accurate therapeutic dose delivery, meaning consistent and repeatable results. The various therapeutic effects take place at the same time and reciprocally reinforce each other, without the risk of thermal damage.
1. Anti-Inflammatory: MLS® Laser Therapy has an anti-edema effect as it causes vasodilation, but also because it activates the lymphatic drainage system which drains swollen areas. As a result, there is a reduction in swelling caused by bruising or inflammation.
2. Analgesic: MLS® Laser Therapy has a beneficial effect on nerve cells. It blocks pain transmitted by these cells to the brain which decreases nerve sensitivity. Also, due to the decreased inflammation, there is less edema and less pain.
Another pain blocking mechanism involves the production of high levels of pain killing chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalin from the brain and adrenal gland.
3. Accelerated Tissue Repair and Cell Growth: Photons of light from lasers penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. The laser light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take on nutrients faster and get rid of waste products. As a result of exposure to laser light, damaged cells are repaired faster.
4. Improved Vascular Activity: Laser light will significantly increase the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue which speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly and reduces scar tissue. Additional benefits include acceleration of angiogenesis, which causes temporary vasodilation and increase in the diameter of blood vessels.
5. Increases Metabolic Activity: MLS® Laser Therapy creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and food particle loads for blood cells.
6. Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points: MLS® Laser Therapy stimulates muscle trigger points and acupuncture points on a noninvasive basis providing musculoskeletal pain relief.
7. Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation: MLS® Laser Therapy reduces the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns or surgery.
8. Improved Nerve Function: Slow recovery of nerve functions in damaged tissue can result in numbness and impaired limbs. Laser light speeds the process of nerve cell reconnection and increase the amplitude of action potentials to optimize muscle healing.
9. Immunoregulation: Laser light has a direct effect on immunity status by stimulating immunoglobulins and lymphocytes.
Laser emissions are absorbed by chromophores (molecule enzymes) that react to laser light. Upon exposure to the laser, the enzyme flavomononucleotide is activated and starts the production of ATP (adenosinetriphosphate), which is the major carrier of cell energy and the energy source for all chemical reactions in the cells.
10. Faster Wound Healing: Laser light stimulates fibroblast development in damaged tissue. Fibroblasts are the building blocks of collagen, which is the essential protein required to replace old tissue or to repair tissue injuries. As a result, MLS® Laser Therapy is effective post surgically and in the treatment of open wounds and burns.
Possible Side Effects
The temporary exacerbation of pain, especially after the first sessions, could be a physiological reaction of the body to laser irradiation. A temporary increase in skin temperature and local swelling may occur. Photosensitivity reactions may occur in patients who have taken photosensitizing medicinal products. No permanent worsening of conditions has ever been reported.
Contraindications
Therapy using the system is contraindicated for patients who: • have an acknowledged sensitivity to IR laser treatment; • have epileptic attacks triggered by light; • have hemorrhagic diathesis or on-going bleeding; • are pregnant; • have or are suspected of having serious, highly contagious diseases; • have diseases for which tissue heating is contraindicated; • are affected by neoplasms; Laser radiation should not be aimed at: • areas where steroids have been injected in the past 2 to 3 weeks; • areas with tattoos or marked with ink other dyes, as they could strongly absorb the laser radiation and lead to photosensitization reactions; • the thoracic area if the patient uses a pacemaker; • the sympathetic ganglia; • the vagus nerve; • the thyroid or carotid sinus district; • an area of the spinal cord where surgery has recently been performed; • ischemic tissue, because the treatment could favor necrosis processes; above or near areas where neural-stimulation systems have been implanted. During treatment in areas away from the implant site, it is in any case recommended to set the neural-stimulation system to OFF.
